Mid-Season Club Update

As we reach the midway point of the season, I am delighted to share an update on the progress and achievements of Long Ashton Junior Football Club. Despite some challenging weather conditions, which have tested our resilience, the club has continued to thrive.

Thanks to the dedication of our players, coaches, and volunteers, we have ensured that matches have gone ahead wherever possible, allowing our teams to continue their development and enjoy the beautiful game.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and children for their incredible commitment and support throughout the season so far. Braving the cold, wet, and often muddy conditions week after week is no small feat, and your enthusiasm and dedication are what make this club so special.

Whether it’s cheering from the sidelines, helping with lifts, or simply ensuring the players are ready to go, your efforts do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.

Key Milestones

FA 1* Accreditation

One of our key goals for this season has been to achieve the FA 1* Accreditation, a significant milestone that will further enhance the opportunities available to our club. I am pleased to report that we are on track to complete this by Feb 26. This achievement will be a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in the club, and it will mark another step forward in our journey of growth and improvement.

Women’s Team

Speaking of growth, I am thrilled to announce the establishment of our new Women’s team. This is a landmark moment for Long Ashton Football, as it provides a pathway for our talented girls to continue their football journey into the adult game.

The Women’s team is open to all women, of all abilities and experience, and is focused on creating a welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy being active, having fun, and building camaraderie. Whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to the sport, we encourage you to come along, get involved, and be part of this exciting new chapter.

Team Wear

This season, we have also taken steps to improve our esprit de corps through the introduction of a brand new kit and team wear. Not only does this provide a strong sense of identity for our players, but it also further strengthens the bonds within our football family. I’m sure you’ll agree that the new kit looks fantastic, and it’s wonderful to see our players proudly representing Long Ashton in such style.

Volunteers

We cannot forget to extend our heartfelt thanks to our 115 volunteers, whose tireless efforts make everything we do possible. With their help, Long Ashton Junior Football Club remains a vibrant and vital part of our community, and it is a privilege to see the positive impact we are making.

From coaching and organising to supporting on match days, our volunteers are the backbone of the club, and we are truly grateful for all that you do.

Get involved

Finally, we are always looking for new players and volunteers to join our football family. Whether you’re a budding young player (from U6 to U16), a woman looking to get involved in the game, or someone who would like to help behind the scenes, we would love to hear from you.

We are in urgent need of a volunteer to help us develop and manage our facilities. Other volunteer roles we are seeking for can be found at https://lajfc.org/volunteer-roles/.

If you’re interested in finding out more about any role please contact our Secretary, Julian Norman, at [email protected] for more information.

Here’s to a strong finish to the season and continued success for Long Ashton Junior Football Club!
