Eagles 2 – 2 Nailsea
Honours Even in Muddy Derby
The Eagles faced their very own Tough Mudder challenge as they battled out a hard-fought draw against local rivals Nailsea.
The Eagles were quick out of the blocks, firing in two goals inside the opening 15 minutes. Max Lawrence was in the right place at the right time to calmly slot home from Boo’s cross.
Moments later, Reuben sent the Eagles into dreamland with a sublime finish, cheekily lobbing the keeper to double the lead.
With their tail wings up, the Eagles looked hungry for more. Boo came close firing a missile agonisingly wide, but Nailsea weren’t done and clawed their way back to level the score at 2–2 by half-time.
The second half saw the heavens open and the pitch transform into a full-blown mud bath – which the boys seemed to enjoy!
Chances came and went at both ends. Leo S produced a superb recovery run to halt a Nailsea break with 2 players through. Joe Waller put in some crunching tackles down the right wing, while Lucas stepped up repeatedly to cut out attacks. Tommy delivered some more “Tommy saves,” including one outstanding stop tipped onto the crossbar.
At the other end, the Eagles pushed hard for a winner and finished the stronger side, but the breakthrough just wouldn’t come.
A super performance in a highly entertaining game. Well done, Eagles! Next up: a trip to the seaside to face top-of-the-table Burnham—sun, sea… and hopefully no rain!
