FAQs
Finding us and parking
Where is training?
Bristol Grammar School, Beggar Bush Lane, Failand, Bristol BS8 3TH.
- what3words: ///transmitted.mild.crisis
- Google Maps
What does the entrance look like?
Look for the “Bristol Grammar School” sign, shown in the photo below. Google Maps sometimes sends people to a different entrance, so if you don’t see the sign, carry on along the road a little further until you do.

Where do I park?
There’s a car park right next to the pitch. It gets busy, so coming in and leaving promptly helps keep things moving. Cars need to turn left when leaving.
Session basics
How long are sessions, and when should we arrive?
Every session is one hour. Arriving about 5 minutes before the start time is plenty. Any earlier and the car park gets congested.
Kit
What does my child need to bring?
- Shin pads (compulsory)
- A bottle of water, for training and matches
- Footwear suited to the surface they’re playing on (see the footwear guide below)

What should they wear?
- Cold weather: warm layers, hat, gloves, skins and waterproofs
- Warm weather: sun cream and a hat
Are players allowed to wear jewellery (including earrings and watches)?
We ask that for safety reasons all jewellery, including earrings and watches, is taken off before training. If unable to be removed, please tape over studded earrings securely – but these are worn at your own risk and accountability.
Coaches and referees will insist on removal of accessories they deem to be dangerous and have the right to refuse participation if the item is not removed.
Parents and carers
Do parents need to stay?
Yes. Our volunteer coaches are here to coach football, occasionally injuries do happen or children need additional support. For this reason we ask that every child has an adult on the sidelines (not gone for a run or sat in the car) who can support with wellbeing and take the child home or for medical support if needed. If that isn’t their parents or carer it’s important that the child, and coaches, know who the responsible adult is.
Can parents and siblings use the facilities?
I’m afraid this isn’t allowed, parents/carers and siblings are not permitted to use space on the astro or the surrounding fields to play football or other recreation.
We only hire the astro for the purpose of training and usage of other facilities is prohibited. It is a private site and we are reminded regularly of terms of our hire when people are seen to be using the other facilities.
