Clevedon 1 – 1 Eagles
Eagles battle hard for a deserved draw
A brilliant team effort from the Eagles today as they dug deep to earn a hard-fought point away at Clevedon.
The game began at a frantic pace and we suffered an early setback when Max R was forced off with an injury. Clevedon then took the lead before we had time to settle.
The boys responded superbly, growing into the game and creating chances. Reuben rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from Archie’s corner, then Jack cleverly lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper only to see his effort cleared.
The equaliser finally arrived when Jack chased down a long Tommy goal kick and finished calmly past the keeper.
After the break, Boo stepped up to put on the keeper jersey and made an excellent low save early on to settle the team. Clevedon continued to push forward but were kept at bay by Boo’s presence in goal.
In the final minutes the Eagles nearly snatched the win when a scramble ended with the ball in the net, only for the offside flag to deny us.
Every player should be proud of themselves
. Special mention to Leo Scull, whose pace and determination shut down several dangerous attacks down the wing.
Well done Eagles! Next up: Portishead at home.
